K-P govt demands facilities for Imran in jail

PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passed several resolutions, including one condemning the vandalising of the Pakistani consulate in Germany, and another demanding an end to the alleged mental and physical torture of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in prison.

The house demanded that Khan be provided with facilities according to his status. The MPAs also called for the withdrawal of cases against former federal minister Murad Saeed and that he be awarded the Tamgha-e-Shujaat. During the session on Tuesday, treasury member Muhammad Sohail Afridi presented a resolution on Imran Khan, saying the PTI chairman, who is a political prisoner, is being subjected to mental and physical torture in jail.

He believed this was a huge concern for Pakistanis, at large. “Therefore, the assembly demands that the torture end and Imran Khan be provided with facilities according to his status.” Afridi’s second resolution stated that the events of the past two years have proven that Murad Saeed’s statements were true, and he had warned of dangers to Pakistan.

“Murad Saeed’s selfless service to the country has united the nation and conveyed a message of peace across the country, proving that he was right. This assembly pays tribute to him and demands that cases against him be withdrawn and security provided.
