‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ trailer reveals Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix in musical madness
The trailer for Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie à Deux” has been released, featuring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn and the Joker, respectively. The sequel to the 2019 film focuses on the relationship between the two iconic characters within Arkham Asylum. Harley Quinn, initially introduced in “Batman: The Animated Series,” was first brought to live-action by Margot Robbie.
Lady Gaga expressed her unique approach to the role, telling Access Hollywood, “My version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters. I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun.”
The original “Joker” was the first R-rated film to gross over $1 billion globally and garnered 11 Oscar nominations, with Phoenix winning Best Actor and Hildur Guðnadóttir winning Best Original Score.
“Joker: Folie à Deux,” which translates to “madness for two,” is set to premiere on October 4 in theaters, following its debut at the Venice Film Festival 2024.
