A forensic team has arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct a polygraph test on Imran Khan in connection with the events of 9 May.

The Lahore police team, led by DSP Javed and consisting of Inspector Rana Akmal, Rana Arham, Alam Langrial, Rana Muneer, and Muhammad Ali, arrived at the prison premesis to conduct the tests.

They were accompanied by experts from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), including Aabid Ayub and Inspector Waqas Khalid.

The PFSA experts will perform polygraph, voice matching, and photogrammetry tests on the former prime minister.

The Lahore police team will also question Imran Khan about various aspects of the 9 May incident during the examination.

Violent protests erupted across the country after paramilitary Rangers arrested Imran Khan from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on May 9, 2023 in connection with the corruption case.

During the protests, alleged PTI workers and supporters attacked and vandalised military installations including the General Headquarters popularly known as the GHQ as well as monuments dedicated to martyrs.

After the unprecedented violence, authorities swung into action and initiated a massive crackdown against the PTI while also holding trials of over 100 PTI workers in military courts.

Civil and military authorities have been accusing the former PM of planning the May 9 conspiracy ahead of his arrest, a claim vehemently rejected by Imran and his party.

Imran denied giving orders for vandalising state properties but did acknowledge that he had asked his party to stage peaceful protest outside the GHQ in case of his arrest.
