Donald Glover officially retired his Childish Gambino persona last Friday, July 19, with the release of "Bando Stone And The New World," which he announced as his final album under the Gambino moniker.

Following this, on Monday, July 22, he unveiled the music video for the track "Lithonia." Directed by Jack Begert, the video stars Alex Wolff, Suzanna Son, Lynette Williams, Ludwig Göransson, Ray Suen, and Thomas Drayton.

The video begins with Gambino performing in a dimly lit room, expressing through lyrics that “nobody gives a f*ck.”

Initially, the visuals present a standard grungy rock aesthetic, maintaining this tone for roughly 80 seconds. However, the video soon escalates in intensity as the characters’ anxiety becomes palpable, illustrated by sweat dripping from their faces.

Glover recently appeared on Hot Ones and discussed his decision to end his Childish Gambino alter ego. “I always knew, like, Childish Gambino was like a character, on some level I wanted it to end,” he explained.

“I feel like the Childish Gambino character is almost like the boss from The Office. It’s like, yeah, that worked 10 years ago. It’s like, oh, it’s a little sad, but it’s also like, wow, the cycle kind of continues, which is great I think.”
