Mumtaz leads Shaheens to victory
Pakistan Shaheens clinched a decisive 148-run victory over Bangladesh A in the first four-day match held in Darwin. Chasing a target of 428 runs, Bangladesh A were bowled out for 279, thanks to a superb display of bowling by the Shaheens. Mehran Mumtaz was the standout performer, claiming four crucial wickets.
His haul included the dismissals of Parvez Hossain Emon (57), Aich Mollah (4), Shahadat Hossain Dipu (42), and Hasan Murad (0).
Support came from pace bowler Shahnawaz Dahani, who took three key wickets, dismissing Shadman Islam (26), Amite Hasan (71), and Ariful Islam (4). Khurram Shehzad, Kamran Gulam, and Mohammad Ali each contributed with a wicket.
Mohammad Huraira was named Man of the Match for his extraordinary double century in the first innings.
Pakistan Shaheens, opting to bat first, amassed 467 runs for the loss of three wickets. Huraira’s impressive 218 off 247 balls and Kamran Ghulam’s unbeaten 100 off 167 deliveries anchored the innings.
In response, Bangladesh A were restricted to 266 runs, with Khurram Shahzad delivering a remarkable spell, claiming six wickets.
Building a significant lead, Pakistan Shaheens scored 226 runs in their second innings before declaring. Omair Bin Yousuf added an unbeaten 100 from 123 balls, and Mubasir Khan contributed a crucial 95.
The second four-day match is scheduled to be held from July 26 to 29 at the same venue.
Australia’s Hemming takes charge as chief pitch curator
Australia’s Tony Hemming has officially begun his tenure as the Chief curator.
Upon arriving at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, he met with the ground staff to discuss key aspects of pitch and ground preparation for the upcoming cricket matches.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently appointed Hemming as Chief Curator, entrusting him with the responsibility of preparing the pitches for the highly anticipated Test series against Bangladesh and England.
