Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are ‘totally open' to ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ sequel
Kate Hudson mentioned that she and Matthew McConaughey are both interested in starring in a sequel to the 2003 rom-com “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”
Appearing on “Watch What Happens Live” on Wednesday, Hudson revealed that she and McConaughey have discussed revisiting the love-torn streets of Manhattan for a follow-up, saying, “I think they [studios] are always thinking about that.”
Hudson emphasized that she would only take on the role if the project had a strong script.
“All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script,” Hudson said. “I think we’re both totally open; it has just never happened.”
“How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is adapted from the book by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long.
The rom-com features Hudson as magazine writer Andie Anderson and McConaughey as advertising executive Benjamin Barry.
Their lives intertwine when Andie starts writing an article on how to make a man leave in 10 days, while Benjamin bets at work that he can make a woman fall in love with him in the same timeframe.
McConaughey was asked about his thoughts on a sequel back in 2020, telling E!’s Daily Pop: “I mean, ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ is teed up, you know, teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel. And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one.”
