Love Island USA: Kordell and Serena's chances of staying together are slim to none?
Kordell and Serena's romance on Love Island USA Season 6 unfolded slowly. But are they still together now that they've left the villa?
Kordell Beckham, 21, from Dallas, Texas, and Serena Page, 24, from Houston, Texas, were among the four couples featured in the Love Island USA Season 6 finale, along with Kendall and Nicole, Leah and Miguel, and JaNa and Kenny.
Kordell and Serena, being original islanders who arrived on the first day, were the only couple in the Season 6 finale to have both members as original cast members.
Kordell and Serena teamed up during the first coupling and remained a couple until the third week, when Kordell opted to pair up with Daia McGhee, a new arrival from Casa Amor. After watching a video of Kordell and Daia kissing, Serena chose to be single during the recoupling.
Kordell and Serena stayed apart for several days before rekindling their relationship after an emotional discussion about their feelings and Kordell’s apology for his behavior in Casa Amor. They reunited during the next recoupling, resulting in Daia being left single and ultimately dumped.
Following the fallout with Daia, Kordell and Serena emerged stronger and stayed together until the Season 6 finale of Love Island USA in week 5.
Are Kordell and Serena from Love Island USA Season 6 still a couple?
Although Kordell and Serena haven't officially updated their relationship status since the Love Island USA Season 6 finale, it's likely that they're still together given the brief period between the filming of the finale and its broadcast.
Voting for the Love Island USA Season 6 winner concluded on July 19, 2024, and the finale aired on July 21, 2024. This means that Serena and Kordell had been out of the villa for just a day or two when the episode was broadcast. Coye Simmons, the first contestant eliminated from Season 6, also verified to The Sun that episodes air within just a few days after being filmed.
The likelihood of Kordell and Serena staying together doesn’t seem promising. Out of the five seasons of Love Island USA, only three couples remain together: Season 5 winners Hannah and Marco, Season 5 finalists Bergie and Taylor, and Season 3 runners-up Kyra and Will. This track record suggests that Kordell and Serena face long odds.
Unlike the other couples in the Love Island USA Season 6 finale, Kordell and Serena don’t face the problem of distance, which often contributes to breakups among couples from the Love Island franchise.
Kordell is from Dallas, Texas, and Serena is from Houston, which is just under 300 miles apart. This gives them an advantage over other Love Island USA couples who managed to stay together despite being from different states or even countries. For instance, among the couples who are still together, Hannah is from Palm Springs, California, and Marco is from Girard, Ohio; Bergie is from Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and Taylor is from Orange County, California; and Kyra is from Honolulu, Hawaii, while Will is from Medellin, Colombia.
Another advantage for Kordell and Serena is that they are both original islanders who entered the villa on the first day. Every couple from Love Island USA that is still together includes at least one member who was a day-one islander, with Will and Kyra being the only couple where both members were original contestants.
No matter what happens with Kordell and Serena, they have an unexpected ally in Daia, Kordell’s Casa Amor ex. Despite the drama in the villa when Kordell briefly left Serena for Daia, she expressed her support for the couple in an interview with Today in July 2024.
When asked about which couples she believed deserved to reach the Love Island USA Season 6 finale, Daia expressed, “I really love Kendall and Nicole. I just find them so sweet and so genuine.”
“From being around them, you can just tell that they really like each other. And then I’m going to go for Serena and Kordell, because obviously I know all the stuff that they went through and how crazy their situation had (gotten), and how strong that they are now.”
Kordell and Serena also have the backing of Kordell's older brother, Odell Beckham Jr., a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins. During the "meet the family" episode, OBJ expressed his support for the couple's relationship, stating, “I’m seeing him smiling, like, I can see y’all smile, you could just tell it’s genuine.” He described Serena as a “great partner” for his younger brother.
