Dale Steyn hails Pakistani pacer’s yorker as the best in cricket history
Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn recently named Pakistani legend Shoaib Akhtar as the bowler who delivered the best yorker in cricket history.
This declaration came in response to a question posed by Iceland Cricket on X (formerly Twitter), asking, "Which bowler has had the best yorker in history?" Steyn responded with "99 World Cup, Shoaib Akhtar."
Iceland Cricket agreed with Steyn’s assessment, highlighting Akhtar’s memorable delivery to Stephen Fleming during the 1999 World Cup.
During this tournament, hosted by England, Akhtar was in exceptional form, taking 16 wickets in 10 matches. Despite Pakistan's loss to Australia in the final, Akhtar’s performance was a standout.
Akhtar, renowned for his blistering pace, represented Pakistan for over 14 years. His career statistics are impressive: 46 Tests with 178 wickets, 163 ODIs with 247 wickets, and 15 T20 Internationals with 19 wickets. Akhtar's impact on the game, particularly his deadly yorkers, has left a lasting legacy in cricket history.
