Embankment breach in kacha area being plugged

Work of plugging a breach in a protective canal embankment was started with an excavator ma-chine in the Kacha Mashani area of Mianwali district.

Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya inspected the embankment that had been damaged by heavy rainfall.

He directed the officers concerned to strengthen the embankment's foundations to ensure the safety of local people's lives and property. The district administration will utilize all resources to protect the people from the floodwater from the rainwater streams, he said.

Meanwhile, residents of the riverine area have constructed temporary mud embankments to save their land and crops from the floodwater that flows from the hills and nearby areas during the monsoon season. However, these embankments often collapse due to the pressure of the flood-water, causing damage to the crops and property.

Continuous heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to crops and infrastructure in Mianwali. The rainwater has flooded fields and crops, causing losses to farmers.

The floodwater has also damaged temporary embankments and mud walls constructed by locals to protect their lands.

The local administration has started repair of the damaged embankments.

Several officials visited the affected areas and initiated repair work on the damaged embank-ments.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Usama Majid Cheema said that a breached section had been plugged.

The officials also directed the concerned authorities to take measures to prevent the rainwater from entering the fields and crops.

According to reports, some individuals have damaged the embankments, causing the water to flow into other people's fields.
