Five children found chained by father

LAHORE:

The Child Protection Bureau has rescued five siblings kept confined by their father in their home in Samanabad.

The children's father, Iqbal, was arrested.

According to Child Protection Bureau Chairperson Sarah Ahmed, it had been reported through a help-line that the children were being confined at home.

The bureau took action with the help of the police and rescued the children.

Sara Ahmed said 14-year-old Khadija, 13-year-old Faizan, nine-year-old Arsalan, seven-year-old Usman and four-year-old Hasnain had been rescued.

The children's father had kept them chained in the house. The chairperson of the bureau said the children would be provided protection.

The police were investigating the case to ascertain why the children had been chained. According to sources, the suspect had married five times.

Two of his wives had died while three others had left him. The fifth wife had left him a few weeks ago. Whenever Iqbal left the house for work, he locked his children at his home.
