Anna Faris outlines conditions for returning to ‘Scary Movie’ franchise
Anna Faris has expressed interest in returning to the "Scary Movie" franchise, but with specific conditions. Speaking to People, Faris highlighted that her return would primarily depend on financial considerations and the involvement of her former co-star Regina Hall. “Money,” Faris stated, is the primary condition for her comeback.
Faris, who last appeared as Cindy Campbell in 2006’s "Scary Movie 4," shared her enthusiasm for reprising her role if Hall, who played her character’s best friend Brenda, also returned. “I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much,” Faris told People. “We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”
Faris expressed her affection for the comedy series, describing it as a significant part of her career development. “I love that franchise. It was like my bootcamp, my beginnings,” said Faris, who has also starred in the sitcom "Mom" and films like "The House Bunny" and "Just Friends." She explained the educational value of the franchise, stating, “If there is a high school comparison for my growth experience, those four movies played an important role in my life in terms of teaching me how to use props, teaching me how to fall, how to get hit in the head — how to hold Chiclets in my mouth and then spit them out with blood at a convenient time for the camera.”
Faris and Hall did not appear in 2013’s "Scary Movie 5," which featured Simon Rex and Ashley Tisdale. In a 2019 interview with Andy Cohen, Faris attributed her absence to aging. “Truthfully, here’s what I think: I don’t know, I always joke that I was too old. They wanted to, like, revamp the brand, or whatever.”
Paramount announced in April that it is developing a reboot of the "Scary Movie" series. While Faris has expressed her willingness to return, it remains to be seen if her conditions will be met for the upcoming project.
