Ryan Reynolds jokes about getting sued for using Taylor Swift’s cats in Deadpool 2
Ryan Reynolds playfully recounted an amusing anecdote involving Taylor Swift during an interview at SiriusXM's Town Hall in New York on July 19.
The actor, known for his roles in Deadpool and Wolverine, disclosed details about incorporating images of Swift's beloved cats into his character's attire in the 2018 film Deadpool 2.
In the interview, Reynolds confessed to having T-shirts made featuring Swift's cats, Meredith and Olivia, prominently displayed. When asked by radio host Jess Cagle if he sought permission from Swift for using her cats' images, Reynolds humorously responded, "No, I was sued. I lost everything in that one."
Reflecting on the faux legal ordeal, Reynolds quipped about the gravity of being sued by a friend, stating, "And getting sued by a friend is tough to swallow." He further joked about Swift's legal team, remarking, "Also, she has just a lot of very, very powerful lawyers. I found out later those are just the paralegals. The real lawyers didn’t even bother with it.”
Reynolds, who attended one of Swift's concerts in Madrid with his wife Blake Lively earlier in May, emphasized their close relationship. The couple, married since 2012, were captured enjoying Swift's performance, with videos showing them kissing and dancing along to her songs alongside their daughters.
In previous interviews, Reynolds has expressed admiration for Swift's talent, mentioning their family's collective fondness for her music. Despite the light-hearted exchange about the T-shirts, Reynolds remains a steadfast fan and supporter of Swift's work.
Reynolds' upcoming project Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26.
