Mohammed Shami breaks silence on rumours of marrying Sania Mirza

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has addressed rumours regarding his alleged marriage to tennis star Sania Mirza, dismissing them as baseless and fabricated for amusement.

Last month, various media outlets reported on the purported marriage, and social media was soon flooded with doctored images of the two sports personalities.

Sania Mirza's father, Imran Mirza, had already debunked these claims on June 21, stating, "This is all rubbish. She has not even met him."

Many news outlets had falsely reported that the pair were set to marry on August 20, 2024.

In a recent interview with a YouTuber, Shami expressed his frustration over the rumours. "It was strange to open my phone and see my picture with someone," he said.

"Memes are meant for fun, but when they concern someone's life, they should be made with more consideration. People share such news from unverified pages and get away with it."

Shami warned those spreading false information, stating, "If you have the guts, then speak from verified pages, then I will tell you."

The cricketer urged social media users to act responsibly and avoid disseminating unwarranted news. "It is very easy to pull someone's leg. You first work hard, achieve success, raise your level and help someone, only then will I believe you are a good person,” he remarked.

Rumours of a potential marriage between Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and cricketer Mohammad Shami started circulating in Indian media in June.

These unverified reports claim that Sania Mirza and Mohammad Shami may tie the knot in August of the current year.

Sania Mirza is the former wife of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The former couple have a son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, who resides with his mother.

Earlier this year, Sania Mirza's father confirmed her divorce from Shoaib Malik. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik were married in 2010.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami also underwent a turbulent divorce last year after the Indian bowler's ex-wife Hasin Jahan accused him of marital infidelity, match-fixing, and domestic violence.
