Watch: Biden ‘almost kisses’ woman, mistaking her for wife
US President Joe Biden garnered significant attention on Friday after a video surfaced on social media, allegedly showing him about to kiss another woman.
The undated clip has fuelled ongoing discussions as Biden faces increasing calls to withdraw from the upcoming presidential election.
One X user claimed, "Joe Biden was spotted about to kiss another woman he appeared to have thought was his wife until Jill Biden stopped him."
In contrast, another user argued, "No sign he was going to kiss her. He was simply talking."
OMG Joe thought that woman was Jill.
She had to run and show him it wasn't her. Watch his face.
😳 pic.twitter.com/AJWqNNwlZdThe video, seemingly taken in the East Room of the White House, depicts Biden conversing with a blonde-haired woman in dark blue. First Lady Jill Biden, dressed in lighter blue, rushes onto the stage, briefly interacting with her husband. Biden appears momentarily surprised before leaving the stage behind the other woman.
A preliminary search indicates that the video is several months old, with similar assertions made on 18 March.
Reports from that time suggest the footage was captured during a White House event celebrating Women's History Month, where Biden also signed an executive order on women's health.
Currently, President Biden is under unprecedented pressure to exit the presidential race, with many prominent Democratic figures urging his withdrawal.
This week, Biden's campaign faced additional challenges as he tested positive for Covid-19 and entered isolation.
Despite these events, the President remains steadfast in his re-election bid.
Close aides said on Friday that Biden is determined to secure his nomination, emphasising his track record of overcoming obstacles and surprising critics.
