Tiger Woods' infidelity exposed: Ex-wife Elin Nordegren confronted his mistress
Tiger Woods, a legendary golfer with a $1 billion fortune, saw his career marred by scandal in 2009, which shattered his once-untouchable image.
The scandal erupted when his wife, Elin Nordegren, discovered his repeated infidelities and confronted him with a golf club, leading to the exposure of Woods' hidden secrets.
In November 2009, it was revealed that Woods had an affair with Rachel Uchitel, a New York nightclub hostess. Despite Woods' attempt to manage the situation by having Elin speak with Uchitel, Elin remained skeptical.
Elin's doubts were confirmed when she discovered Jaimee Grubbs' contact in Woods' phone, along with a direct message she sent to Grubbs, "You know who this is, because you are f---ing my husband." Unaware of the call, Woods later left a voicemail for Grubbs, pleading with her to delete her contact from his phone.
On Thanksgiving, the scandal went public. Woods tried to evade the fallout while Elin, finding more incriminating messages, confronted him again. The argument led to Woods crashing his car and sustaining minor injuries. Elin claimed she broke the car windows to help him, but the damage was done.
Within two weeks, fourteen women alleged affairs with Woods. His endorsement deals with Nike, Gatorade, Gillette, and Accenture were lost, and his reputation was severely damaged.
Woods admitted his actions in a press conference, "I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was not acceptable."
Woods publicly addressed rumors about Elin attacking him, "It hurts me that people would fabricate a story like that."
Despite the scandal, Woods continued to play, but his career hasn’t fully recovered. With the Open Championship approaching, doubts about his future remain. Rival Colin Montgomerie even suggested Woods consider retiring.
