PBC divided over ad hoc judge appointments
Seven members of the PBC have distanced themselves from a statement released just a day ago by the body that threw weight behind the JCP decision to appoint ad hoc judges to tackle the backlog of cases.
The dissenting PBC members issued their own press release on Friday, airing their grievances and disassociating themselves from the earlier statement.
Among them, Shafqat Mehmood Chauhan voiced strong concerns about the appointment of ad hoc judges to the Supreme Court, warning, “If ad hoc judges are appointed, these appointments will be challenged in the Supreme Court.”
