Three held for beating man to death

Police say incident’s footage shows accused committed crime with extreme brutality

RAWALPINDI:

Police in Rawalpindi have arrested three men for allegedly beating a citizen to death over a minor dispute within the limits of Rata Amral police station.

The accused, identified as Adil, Khalid, and Shehzad, were involved in an altercation that led to the death of Humayun Ilyas’s death.

The incident occurred when Ilyas’s brother, was arguing with some men near Dhok Hasu Alam Khan Mosque.

When Ilyas intervened to break up the quarrel, the accused, including Arsalan, his father Shehzad, and three others began beating them with iron rods.

Ilyas was seriously injured and fell to the ground but despite this, the suspects continued to hit him with sticks. Ilyas was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

A police spokesperson said that the mobile footage of the incident clearly shows the accused committed the crime with extreme brutality.

The video captures the accused beating Ilyas with an iron rod over a minor dispute.

Following the video's release, the chief police officer took immediate notice and ordered SP Rawal Division, Faisal Salim, to arrest the accused promptly.

The case was registered at Rata Amral police station on Thursday on the complaint of the victim's brother.

Under the supervision of SP Rawal, SDPO City, and Rata Amral police, the accused were swiftly apprehended, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices.

The police said that all legal requirements would be fulfilled to ensure that the accused received their due punishment.

The police have solid evidence and eyewitnesses against the accused.
