Most city areas receive light showers

Scattered showers on Friday afternoon brought a little but temporary relief for citizens from extremely hot and humid weather in the city.

According to the data released by the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall of 14.8mm was recorded in area along University Road, while the lowest rainfall of 1mm was recorded in Ibrahim Hyderi, the coastal belt and fishing town of the city.

The PMD has predicted thundershowers on Saturday (today). The PMD report said that the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 38.5 degrees, while humidity was 79%, and heat index was felt at 47 degrees.

In the afternoon, thunderstorm cells formed in the outskirts, initially affecting Gadap Town and later areas such as Bahria Town, Gulistan-e-Johar, Motorway M-9, Scheme 33, Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Hasan Square, Essa Nagri, PIB Colony, and Bahadurabad.

Rainfall varied from light to heavy across these regions. Before the rain, some areas like Gulshan-e-Maymar and Surjani Town experienced dark clouds and cold, dusty winds. According to the Early Warning Center of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain and drizzle in the city between afternoon and evening on Saturday as well as on Sunday.
