28 K-P districts get DDC chairpersons

Provincial govt issues notification in this regard

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has approved the chairpersons of District Development Committees (DDCs) of 28 districts across the province.

It has bestowed the chairmanships on Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) who had not become part of the provincial cabinet, and has completely ignored the opposition in this regard.

K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved the chairmanships and a list has been sent to the Local Government Secretary for the new appointments.

According to the list, Fateh Mulk from Lower Chitral, Obaidur Rehman from Lower Dir, Hamidur Rehman from Bajaur, Riaz Khan from Buner, Abdul Moneim from Shangla, Muhammad Riaz from Kolai Pals, Laeeq Muhammad Khan from Tor Ghar, Akbar Ayub from Haripur, Khalid Khan from Charsadda, Mehboob Sher from Mohmand, Abdul Ghani from Khyber, Sher Ali Afridi from Peshawar, Shafiullah from Kohat, Shah Abu Tarab from Hangu, Aurangzeb from Orakzai and Muhammad Khurshid from Karak have been appointed DDC heads in their respective districts.

Similarly, Zahidullah from Bannu, Johar Muhammad from Lakki Marwat, Muhammad Usman from Tank, Muhammad Asif from South Waziristan Upper, Ajab Gul from South Waziristan Lower, Zarshad Khan from Mardan, Akhtar Khan from Swat, Muswar Khan from Malakand, Zubair Khan from Battagram, Zaralam Khan from Nowshera and Rangzeb Ahmed from Swabi have also been notified and appointed DDC chairmen in their respective districts.

The list has been sent to the Local Government Secretary for the issuance of a notification on the appointments made by the Chief Minister. It includes the appointments made for 28 of the province’s 35 districts. The DDC chairpersons for the remaining seven districts, including Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), are to be appointed later.

The opposition has not been given the DDC chair in any district.

The government is to appoint parliamentary secretaries in the next phase.
