The annual "Celebration of Mac," dedicated to the late rapper Mac Miller, faces significant changes this year, potentially putting the event's future "at risk." The celebration, traditionally held at Blue Slide Park in Pittsburgh, has been impacted by new regulations from the venue.

In a statement released by Cody Lee and Marc-Andre Lauzon of Mac Miller Memoir, the event's organizers, it was revealed that the city rejected their permit due to concerns about people drinking or smoking near the playground. “Our annual Celebration of Mac at Blue Slide Park is at risk,” the statement read. “We encourage those to be respectful and considerate of the surroundings, ensuring a safe environment for all park visitors.”

Since its inception five years ago, the celebration has taken place at Blue Slide Park, inspired by the title of Miller’s debut studio album. Traditionally, fans gather for a daytime event at the park before moving to a different venue for evening festivities. This year, however, the three-day event will be held exclusively at Velum Fermentation in Pittsburgh over Labor Day Weekend.

“It won’t be the same feel since the Park had so much meaning to everything, but it’s the best we can do this year,” Cody and Marc told iHeartRadio. The event will allow fans to visit the park independently on Saturday before reconvening at the main venue.

The organizers are actively seeking to return to Blue Slide Park in the future and are encouraging fans to send positive messages to the city about their experiences at the event. Meanwhile, the "Celebration of Mac" will include an art gallery, installations, artists, DJ sets, and more, starting Friday, August 31. The main 21+ party will be on Saturday night, with additional artist performances, a community drive, and free BBQ on Sunday.

Additionally, the celebration will return to Los Angeles for its second year on September 6 at Catch One LA. This event is open to fans aged 21 and over with free RSVP.
