Rain or dry spell? Contrasting forecasts from PDMA and PMD have left Lahoris guessing

The city is caught in a state of uncertainty as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) present conflicting forecasts regarding the monsoon rains.
According to the PDMA, heavy rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi.
The department predicts that the monsoon spell will continue until July 20, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
On the contrary, the Met Department reports that the monsoon system is weakening across Punjab, including Lahore.
It said that the reduction in rainfall is leading to dry weather, resulting in increased heat and humidity. The department forecasts that temperatures in Lahore could rise from 36 to 39 degrees Celsius due to the dry conditions.
They also predict dusty winds instead of rain for Lahore this evening and expect dry weather in most Punjab districts today and tomorrow.
The conflicting predictions have left residents in a state of confusion, unsure whether to prepare for rain or dry weather.
The recent inaccuracy in PDMA’s forecast has also raised questions about their performance.
