IT outage disrupts some airlines at Singapore airport

Check-in process for some airlines at Changi Airport is being managed manually due to power outage

Singapore's airport said Friday that some airlines had been affected by an IT outage, as widespread technical problems were reported by flight operators around the world.

"Due to a global outage affecting IT systems of many organisations, the check-in process for some airlines at Changi Airport is being managed manually," the airport said in a Facebook post.

However, flights are now gradually resuming at Berlin Brandenburg airport on Friday after being suspended due to a global IT outage, a spokeswoman told AFP.

"Departures are taking place," the spokeswoman said, adding however that there "may be longer waiting times" as "everything now has to be gradually ramped up again".

Previously, Indian airlines and some brokerages faced technical and operational disruptions  amid a global IT outage, multiple traders and airlines said.

"We are currently experiencing technical challenges with our service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities," SpiceJet  said on social media platform X.

Indigo, Akasa Air, Vistara, Air India and Air India Express also posted messages on X saying they were facing issues.

New Delhi airport said it too faced some IT issues and some services were temporarily affected.

None of the brokerages responded to emails seeking confirmation and comment.
