Love Island USA’s Liv Walker explains why her relationship with Rob didn’t work out
Season 6 saw its first Love Island USA bombshell exit with Olivia "Liv" Walker leaving the villa. Traveling from Australia to find love on the reality dating show, she instead found friends and stirred up a bit of drama. Her outspoken nature made her one of the more memorable islanders of the season.
Her interactions with Rob Rausch and Leah Kateb were tumultuous, with instances of both confrontation and affection. Liv discussed her brief relationships, the voting dispute, and Rob's flirtation with her before Casa Amor in an interview with Collider.
Liv talks about throwing water in Leah’s face on Love Island USA season 6
Liv was the first bombshell to join the villa, with her sights set on Rob. She managed to take Rob from Leah, though they continued to have secret dates by the dock.
Liv eventually discovered their rendezvous and sought revenge by tossing buckets of water at them during the challenge. “Yeah, the throwing the water in the face, was maybe a little out of hand that I did then," Liv admitted. While she relished getting back at Rob, she had more to share about her relationship with Leah.
"Leah and I are great friends, and we hold a lot of love and respect for each other, and we do argue and fight and say some comments, but at the end of the day, we know we don't mean it," she explained.
"And we always come back and make up 10 times better than we fought." She noted that Leah handled things gracefully and didn't complain. Leah wasn't the only person she clashed with this season.
Why Rob and Liv didn't end up together after Casa Amor
Before Casa Amor, Rob spoke with Liv and expressed his interest in her. However, fans never saw them attempt to reconnect after the boys returned. "I feel like we would definitely like friendly flirting," the Australian star told Collider. "I mean, it's just friends with Rob and I that's it, no romantic things there."
She mentioned that, as the first bombshell, she wasn't fully comfortable being herself yet, which might explain why Rob's feelings for her seemed to change.
Liv had another explanation for the unexpected conversation. "I do feel like some things just don't work out, and we were both singles, and we saw how every other couple was very much lovey-dovey and maybe rubbed off on us a little bit," she explained.
Rob brought Daniela Ortiz Rivera back from Casa Amor and shifted his focus to her. Liv also discussed the rumor that Caine Bacon was supposed to pick her in the final ceremony, but he chose Sierra Mills instead, leading to Liv's elimination.
"I don't think that's true," she said.
"Obviously like I don't know, it is his own experience." She later stated that production doesn't direct islanders on whom to choose. "They're very much there for a shoulder to cry on, to have a laugh, to hear you out," she explained.
“They won't tell you about other islanders. You can't get [gossip] or insights from them. But I mean I went through a few couples. If they were really telling me who I should stay with or should not stayed with, I don't think I would've been through so many."
Love Island USA's finale is on Sunday, July 21 on Peacock.
