Process to abolish 5 ministries underway

ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has completed the first consultation process to abolish five ministries, including the Ministry for Health.

The departmental reforms committee has completed its consultation with the officials of the ministries of IT, telecom, industries & production, Kashmir affairs and GB & SAFRON. The decision on the fate of ministries’ employees will be taken before July 30. The employees of the devolved ministries can be merged with other ministries. The prime minister will be briefed before taking the final decision on abolishment of the five ministries.

The sources said the ministries were given the deadline of July 12 for the submission of all details. They said the ministries’ employees are likely to be given a big package along with golden handshake scheme after seeking approval from the IMF.
