Army, PLA cooperation will continue: COAS
A function to mark the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) of China was hosted at the GHQ on Thursday, where Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong was the chief guest, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The event was attended by officers from the tri-services of Pakistan besides, Defence Attache Maj-Gen Wang Zhong and other Chinese Embassy officials. The ISPR said that Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir welcoming the Chinese guests.
On the occasion, the army chief congratulated the PLA and praised its contribution to China's defence, security and nation development. He stressed that Pakistan-China relations were strong and based on mutual trust and each others support.
Pakistan-China relations are exceptional and have always weathered the vicissitudes of strategic environment with mutual trust and unwavering belief in each others support, the chief of army staff told the event. Relations between the Pakistan Army and the Peoples Liberation Army are strong and both militaries continue to engage in bilateral military cooperation, demonstrating the iron clad brotherhood between the two countries, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chinese ambassador thanked the army chief for hosting the event. The Pakistani military has always been at the forefront of countering terrorism and has made great sacrifices for the peace and stability of Pakistan and the region, the ambassador remarked.
