Man killed over family dispute

KARACHI:

A man was shot dead at a barber shop in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Thursday allegedly over a family dispute.

The deceased, 35-year-old Sajid Sharif was in the seat at the barber shop when the assailants barged in and opened fire with pistols.

Sharif, nephew of PPP District Youth Wing President Wasim Brohi and regional leader Akram Baloch, died on the spot.

Police said that five alleged suspects, Nasser, Hamza, Bilal, Razaq, and Rizwan, are believed to be involved in the murder. The victim's heirs have said they were in mourning and would file the murder case afterwards.

Aziz Bhatti police station SHO, Shehzad Ilyas, said that one of the nominated accused, Nasser, was also involved in the killing of Sajid's cousin. Nasser had recently come out of prison on bail after four years.

Meanwhile, doctors at the Jinnah Hospital reported that Sajid was shot a total of 10 times. SSP Gulshan Iqbal, Abdul Aleem, told media that the shooting was the result of a family feud while eight bullet casings were found at the scene.

The deceased's uncle, Sajid Brohi, told The Express Tribune that Sajid was the third among six brothers and worked at a poultry meat shop.

Brohi has appealed to the Pakistan Chief Justice and other authorities to arrest those responsible for Sajid's murder.

He said the family was in mourning, they will file the case after the janaza and the fateha. The police are investigating the incident further.
