Nine fugitives arrested from abroad

The Punjab Police Special Operations Cell and Interpol Islamabad conducted a joint international operation and arrested nine fugitives involved in murder and other crimes.

A team of the cell led by Inspector Khalid Waryah arrived at the Lahore airport from the United Arab Emirates with the nine fugitives.

They were identified as Irfan Asghar, Farhan Nazakat, Samar Abbas, Najib Ullah, Saddam Hussain, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Saqib, Muhammad Usman and Tariq Mehmood.

According to a statement, Rafiq was wanted by Dera Ghazi Khan police since 2011 in cases of killing citizens and terrorism. Tariq Mehmood had been wanted by the Faisalabad police for 14 years in a murder case. Irfan was wanted by Badiana police in Sialkot for murdering his wife and disposing of her body.

Farhan was wanted by Qila Deedar Singh police in the murder of a 16-year-old boy. Samar was wanted by Pakpattan police in the murder of a man in Arifwala. Najib had been wanted by Dera Ghazi Khan police for 10 years in a murder case. Saddam was wanted by Bhakar police in a dacoity case since 2018. Saqib and Usman were wanted by the Sialkot police in murder cases.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar appreciated the team of Gujranwala RPO Tayyab Hafeez for arresting the fugitives. The IG said the total number of proclaimed offenders and other fugitives arrested from abroad this year had reached 59.

Meanwhile, police in Gajjarpura arrested a suspect caught red-handed molesting children in the Krol Ghati jungle area, according to Express News.

The suspect, identified as Muhammad Asif, son of Muhammad Shaukat, and a resident of China Scheme, was reportedly luring children into the jungle with promises and then molesting them.

Police conducted an intelligence-based operation to apprehend the suspect. Muhammad Asif was arrested while committing the crime. Among the victims was a 14-year-old boy named Muhammad Anas, a student and Hafiz-e-Quran, who was returning home from a madrassa in Ahmad Town when he was assaulted.
