Boxing: Khan may face Peterson
Amir Khan’s long search for a December 10 opponent is coming to a close.
LONDON:
WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Amir Khan’s long search for a December 10 opponent is coming to a close with Lamont Peterson, the mandatory challenger for his IBF title, set to step into the breach. “The next opponent for Khan is likely to be his mandatory, Lamont Peterson, but it might also go to a purse bid,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Khan’s promoters. This would be Khan’s last fight in the light-welterweight division. He is set to hold his first clash in the welterweight division in early 2012 before taking on Floyd Mayweather Jnr later that year.
