Cherie Currie recounts Rush's alleged sabotage incident against The Runaways in 1977

Currie recently revealed details of Rush's disruptive behavior during a 1977 concert, risking her safety.

Cherie Currie, former lead vocalist of The Runaways, recently spoke out about a contentious incident involving Rush during a concert in Detroit back in February 1977. 

In an interview with The Metal Voice, Currie detailed how Rush allegedly sabotaged The Runaways' performance. 

Recounting the event, Currie described Rush members throwing paper onto the stage, endangering her and her bandmates. 

She emphasized the potential danger she faced due to slipping on stage debris, nearly falling into an orchestra pit. 

Despite the dangerous situation, Currie managed to recover and strike a pose for photographers, avoiding serious injury.

Currie's statements shed light on long-standing tension between the two bands, exacerbated by what she perceives as deliberate negligence on Rush's part during their shared performance. 

This incident has been a focal point of historical anecdotes regarding the clash between the punk-influenced rock of The Runaways and the progressive rock of Rush.

In response to these accusations, Rush's Geddy Lee addressed the incident in a 2013 interview with Prog magazine, attributing the conflict to logistical issues with soundchecks rather than intentional malice. 

Lee expressed disbelief at the decades-old controversy resurfacing, asserting that Rush never harbored gender-based biases and dismissing claims of mocking The Runaways' performance quality.
