Oakland, CA - Tan DaGod, a rising female rapper known for her bold lyrics and entrepreneurial spirit, tragically lost her life in a shooting incident on Saturday, July 13. The 27-year-old artist, born Alliauna Green, was gunned down shortly after attending a meet-and-greet event at the grand reopening of Glamor Beauty Supply on Telegraph Avenue. Reports from Fox 2 indicate that Tan DaGod was involved in a verbal altercation with an individual unrelated to the shooter just before the incident occurred.

Eyewitnesses at the scene have suggested that Tan DaGod was deliberately targeted. According to a witness interviewed by KTVU, a hooded assailant entered the premises and fired shots specifically at her, resulting in her fatal injury. Although another person was also shot during the incident, Tan DaGod was the sole fatality.

The tragic event follows months of controversy surrounding Tan DaGod's music and public persona. In her recent mixtape "Ex Wood Pack," released approximately eight months ago, listeners and fans speculated that her lyrics alluded to the murder of an abusive ex-boyfriend in 2023. The mixtape cover art, featuring a photo with her ex-boyfriend's head replaced by a Backwoods blunt, added fuel to the speculation.

In tracks such as "He Say Im Kold," Tan DaGod's lyrics included lines that some interpreted as provocative references to the alleged incident. Interviews and social media posts further amplified these perceptions, with Tan DaGod appearing unapologetic and defiant in her commentary about the matter.

Despite the controversy, Tan DaGod's family has insisted that her music and statements were intended as provocative artistic expressions, specifically a "diss track for clout." The family's perspective seeks to distinguish between artistic persona and real-life actions, stressing that there is no definitive evidence linking her to any criminal activity.

In the wake of her tragic death, tributes have poured in from fellow artists and fans alike, highlighting her impact on the Oakland music scene and beyond. Notable figures such as Mistah FAB have shared heartfelt condolences on social media platforms, acknowledging the deep impact of violence on the community.

The Oakland Police Department continues to investigate the motive behind Tan DaGod's shooting and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

As the community mourns the loss of Tan DaGod, her untimely death serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges surrounding violence and its profound consequences.
