Glen Powell, known for his roles in "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Anyone but You," recently shared the story of adopting his rescue dog, Brisket, while filming the upcoming blockbuster "Twisters" in Oklahoma. The actor adopted Brisket from the Labelle Foundation during the production of the "standalone sequel" to the 1996 classic "Twister."

Powell, who was going through a breakup at the time, said he had always wanted a dog. "I was going through a breakup at the time and was in the middle of Enid, Oklahoma, and I had always wanted a dog," he told Entertainment Weekly (EW). While following various dog adoption and rescue Instagram accounts, Powell came across a picture of Brisket and felt an instant connection. He reached out to friends and acquaintances who followed the rescue, asking them to vouch for him.

"I literally messaged saying, 'Please put in a good word for me,'" Powell shared. "I sent them a heartbreakingly depressing video of me why I needed this dog." His efforts paid off, and Powell took a weekend off filming to fly to Los Angeles and collect Brisket.

Brisket quickly became a beloved member of the "Twisters" cast and crew. "He was crate training and all that stuff, so he was crying through the night," Powell explained. "I felt like literally a new father, where I wasn't sleeping while shooting this movie. But Brisket would just kick it with every department head, and he would sit in my chair and just sleep."

The presence of Brisket on set had a positive impact on everyone involved. "Sets can be very lonely places," Powell noted. "And it's interesting when you see a dog that's just filling you up with love, how it brings a cast together even more. There's something wonderful about animals, about how they can bring our walls down a bit and expedite friendships and things like that."

Powell expressed his gratitude for Brisket, calling him a "magical gift" that brings joy to everyone around him. "I consider him the best special feature of 'Twisters,'" he said.

"Twisters" is set to blow into theaters on July 19.
