Derek Hough recalls Richard Simmons' impromptu song about his 'perfect hair' on 'DWTS'

Derek Hough, 39, honored the late Richard Simmons with a touching Instagram tribute on Monday. 

The post included footage from Hough's first season on 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2007, where Simmons, known for his boundless energy, visited Hough and his dance partner Jennie Garth, 52. 

Initially intending to boost Garth's confidence, Simmons instead surprised Hough with an impromptu song praising his "perfect" hair. In the video, Simmons playfully serenades Hough, singing, "Derek’s got perfect hair," leaving both Hough and Garth amused.

Simmons, who passed away just a day after celebrating his 76th birthday, was remembered fondly by friends and fans alike. Lynn Herring, co-star from 'General Hospital,' reminisced about Simmons' vibrant personality and generosity. 

Diane Sawyer, recalling her recent conversations with Simmons, shared poignant messages and reflections, highlighting his profound insights into life.

Tom Estey, Simmons' longtime publicist, conveyed the family's gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans. Estey emphasized Simmons' enduring impact, stating, "He is up above smiling down at all of you."
