“This better be espresso martini”: Drake’s 50,000 square-foot Toronto mansion gets flooded
The mansion features a 40-foot ceiling, exotic wood floors and an indoor basketball court built to NBA size.
Drake posted videos on social media showing his home in Toronto flooded due to the intense rainstorms.
On Tuesday, the "Hotline Bling" rapper posted an Instagram Story showing an unidentified man pushing against glass double doors as water flowed from what appeared to be a closet into a bathroom.
He was seen walking through ankle-deep water with a broom, trying to sweep the water out of the room while panning the camera around.
Despite their efforts, the sound of water continuing to flow into the room could still be heard.
However, he appeared to downplay the situation by captioning the video,“This better be Espresso Martini.”
Drake and Canadian architect and interior designer Ferris Rafauli conceptualized the 50,000 square-foot mansion, known as The Embassy.
The mansion features a great room with a 40-foot ceiling, exotic wood floors, a limestone entryway, and an indoor basketball court built to NBA regulation size.
“Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel,” Drake told Architectural Digest in 2020.
According to the City of Toronto, the Greater Toronto area experienced torrential rain on Tuesday, accumulating approximately four inches of water.
The storm has caused power outages for over 167,000 people, with no estimated time for restoration.
