A Pakistani born British citizen and businessman Suleman Raza on Tuesday was awarded with the Freedom of the City of London, one of the city's highest accolades. This ancient tradition, dating back to 1237, originally allowed citizens to trade freely and has evolved into a symbol of excellence and dedication.
After receiving the award Raza said that opportunities are abundant for those who seek them. He said that recognition comes when you dedicate yourself to making a difference saying It is not just about me, the United Kingdom UK provides opportunities for every resident. If they contribute to this nation, they will find that their efforts are recognised, hailed and rewarded, just as mine have been.
The Freedom of the City of London is more than just an award. It embodies the spirit of innovation, dedication and opportunity. It stands as a testament to the idea that anyone willing to contribute can thrive and achieve great things here.
From dishwasher to Curry King and receiving this award has a long history. When I first arrived in London at 18, I was welcomed with open arms and endless opportunities. My journey began with humble tasks, mopping floors, washing pots, cooking and grocery shopping. My only dream then was to own a small restaurant. Yet, this amazing city, which embraced me so warmly, offered a platform to dream bigger, strive harder, and achieve more. I eventually earned the title of the Curry King of Greater London, Raza added saying I was inspired by the support I received, I vowed to give back to this incredible nation. My dedication led to receiving the Points of Light Award from former Prime Minister Boris Johnson for our "One Million Meals" campaign and being honoured as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth III for services to business and philanthropy.
Raza said, This award was the recognition of my work and service to this great nation and this award is also a pride moment for Pakistan where I was born.
