‘Illicit’ housing project faces action

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on the directives of the Director General, Kinza Murtaza, has lodged an FIR against an illegal housing scheme, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Employees Cooperative Housing Society.

According to a spokesperson for the RDA, the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate RDA lodged an FIR against the team members of the illegal housing scheme, PAEC, Employees Cooperative Housing Society located in Mouza Ibn-e-Chak, Rawat at GT Road.

The FIR was registered against Rafaqat Ali, Muhammad Mukhtar Ahmad, Urooj Javed Butt, Khurram Shahzad, Munawar Khan, Sheikh Khawar Naeem, Muhammad Aamir, Abdul Nasir Jaral and Muhammad Najam Khan, the RDA spokesperson said.

The MP&TE Directorate RDA was taking legal action against the illegal advertisements and marketing of illegal housing schemes, he said adding that before lodging FIRs, the authority issues notices to the illegal housing schemes.

He said that the RDA had warned that without getting NOC for launching the housing schemes, apartment projects, commercial buildings, etc. within the controlled area of the RDA, all sorts of advertisements, marketing and development work of such projects is illegal.
