Housemaid, brother netted for Rs10m heist

A housemaid was found involved in a big theft in the Westridge area, police sources disclosed on Tuesday.

The suspect told the police that she, her brother and her mother stole more than Rs450,000 in cash, 42 tolas of gold ornaments and valuables worth over Rs10 million.

Police investigations showed that Amina Bibi took an opportunity when her master left for Murree. Before they were Amina along with her, the latter handed over the house keys to her mother and notified them over the phone that the house was vacant.

Amina's brother and mother entered the residential property and plundered cash, jewellery and other valuables. The police used modern technology and human intelligence and successfully traced the theft after interrogating Amina and her brother Shehzad during the investigation.

They apprehended the brother and sister and recovered the looted booty. Additionally, raids were being conducted to arrest Amina's mother.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer Khalid Hamdani praised the performance of Cantt Circle Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Javed Iqbal Mirza and his team of the Westridge police for tracking the serious incident and arresting the accused.
