Carlos Alcaraz celebrates Wimbledon victory and Spain’s Euro win with dance at champions' dinner
Alcaraz Dances with Barbora Krejčíková at champions' dinner after historic Wimbledon win.
It was an unforgettable Sunday for Carlos Alcaraz.
Not only did he defend his Wimbledon title with a dominant performance against Novak Djokovic, winning 6-2, 6-2, 7-6, but he also celebrated Spain’s victory over England in the Euros final in Berlin.
The tennis star's triumph at Wimbledon made him the youngest-ever male player to win four Grand Slam titles.
Adding a cherry on top of his victories, Alcaraz shared a dance with Wimbledon ladies' champion Barbora Krejčíková at the Champions' Dinner.
They danced to Dua Lipa’s hit song 'Dance the Night,' maintaining the tradition where the male and female winners share a dance.
The 21-year-old Spaniard and the 28-year-old Czech player entertained attendees with their performance, which quickly went viral online.
Before the dinner, Alcaraz’s mind was on the European Championship final.
He revealed he spoke to members of the Spanish football team to encourage them before his final against Djokovic.
Alcaraz mentioned, “I spoke to them before I started the match. When I finished [my match], one of the first FaceTimes I did was with Alvaro Morata just to wish them the best of luck.”
During the Champions' Dinner, Alcaraz, a passionate football fan, was seen anxiously following the Euro final.
He recounted how he watched the game on his phone, TV, and iPad to ensure he didn’t miss any moment.
The men's champion was particularly nervous during the final moments when Spain's Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal, securing a 2-1 victory over England.
Reflecting on the evening, Alcaraz said, “Just before getting out of the car, I saw the goal, and I thought it was offside. I couldn't get out of the car until I made sure it was a goal. So it was a few minutes where the nerves were so high!”
The perfect culmination of a sporting day for Spain saw Alcaraz and Krejčíková uphold the Wimbledon tradition, making it a memorable night for the champions and their fans.
