King Charles III personally sent a letter to Donald Trump after the former president survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace to the BBC on Monday.

The private note from the British monarch was delivered on Sunday through the UK Embassy in Washington, DC.

The exact contents of Charles’ letter are undisclosed, but according to reports, it echoes sentiments expressed by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer “in keeping with those communicated by the prime minister over the weekend.”

Sir Keir Starmer expressed "appalled" over the attack and wished Trump and those injured a speedy recovery.

In 2019, then-Prince Charles hosted Trump and Melania for tea at Clarence House, and Queen Elizabeth II hosted a state banquet during Trump's UK visit the same year.

The former president, aged 78, was wounded by a sniper during an outdoor campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday afternoon.

Trump's ear was observed bleeding before he sought cover and was eventually escorted to safety by Secret Service agents.

Trump later shared on his Truth Social site that he “felt the bullet ripping through [his] skin” and that it “pierced the upper part of [his] right ear.”

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he wrote.

“Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”

The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot by a Secret Service assault team at the location.
