Gang involved in medicine theft busted

LAHORE:

The Lahore Organised Crime Unit (OCU) has arrested seven members of a gang involved in stealing and selling medicines from government hospitals.

The suspects, who were employees at the medicine stores of Children's Hospital, General Hospital, and Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate, were caught following an extensive investigation.

Two of the suspects had established a private medicine company, "Pak Medicos," using stolen medicines.

They would erase the government stamps from the stolen medicines and sell them at reduced rates to private vendors, including their own company.

During a press conference, DIG OCU Imran Kishwar disclosed that the investigation began after the arrest of a suspect named Ahmad Raza, a purchaser who had bought medicines from Government Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate.
