King and Queen visit Jersey, participate in ancient traditions

The visit includes a special assembly sitting, traditional ceremonies, and the presentation of locally laid duck eggs.

The King and Queen's visit to Jersey marked their first trip to the Channel Islands since Charles acceded to the throne. 

The visit included a special sitting of the States Assembly and a transition to a Royal Court. 

During this ceremony, the King was presented with locally laid duck eggs, replacing the ancient tradition of presenting dead ducks. 

King Charles expressed his delight at returning to Jersey, describing it as a "beautiful and unique" island. The couple was greeted with cheers and a Loyal Address from the Bailiff. 

Reflecting on their previous visit in 2012, Charles said, "We met so many Islanders and learned of the high regard and affection in which [my mother] was held." 

The King and Queen also participated in traditional ceremonies and met with local dignitaries, celebrating the island's loyalty to the Crown.
