Wildfire in western Türkiye claims three lives
A wildfire that ignited on Monday in Türkiye's western province of Izmir killed three individuals, local media reported.
The NTV broadcaster said the fire broke out under unknown circumstances in Cesme, a resort town in Izmir. As a precautionary measure, residents in affected areas, where the fire rapidly spread due to windy conditions, have been evacuated from their homes.
During the evacuation, two families separated into two groups and attempted to escape the approaching flames. One group was successfully rescued by emergency teams, while the dead bodies of three individuals from the other group, reportedly a man, a woman, and a child, were found.
Firefighting teams are working to control the blaze, deploying resources both on the ground and in the air, while the cause of the incident is under investigation, NTV added.
