PTI leader ‘abducted by unknown men’ from Lahore
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ameer Sultan, who secured his parliamentary seat from NA-110 in Jhang, was reportedly abducted from his residence by unknown individuals in Lahore, according to a senior party leader on Sunday.
PTI Secretary Lahore General Hafiz Zeeshan stated that "unknown men arrived in two vehicles and abducted him last night," following the Supreme Court's ruling on the reserved seats, which has left party members feeling "unsafe."
The Supreme Court's decision affirmed that PTI is eligible for reserved seats, potentially making it the largest party in the National Assembly once these seats are allocated.
In response, SSP Cantt Awais Shafiq said that the police had neither arrested Sultan nor received any complaints regarding his alleged abduction.
When asked why no complaint had been filed, Zeeshan explained that the party was in the process of drafting one and planned to submit it to the police on Monday.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser expressed concern over the incident, questioning, "How can a country function where politicians' loyalties are shifted?"
He criticized the current state of law and order, asserting that there is no respect for judicial decisions and accusing the government of trying to manage the country "by force." Qaiser declared that the time for mere condemnations had passed and emphasized the need for resistance, demanding the immediate release of MNA Ameer Sultan.
