The high-profile Young Thug and YSL RICO case has hit a critical juncture as the defense pushes for Judge Ural D. Glanville's recusal over allegations of witness tampering.

Lester Tate, former chair of Georgia's Judicial Qualifications Committee, has criticized the proceedings, emphasizing the case's hold until another judge rules on Glanville’s potential recusal.

Judge Rachel Krause, who is also involved in the case, refused to recuse herself in a recent court order, despite questions about her impartiality stemming from a $2,000 donation Glanville made to her re-election campaign.

"The only consideration for the Court is whether Judge Glanville’s campaign donation to this Court’s re-election campaign warrants recusal," Krause wrote.

She further explained that the Georgia Supreme Court has determined that a campaign contribution alone does not necessitate recusal if it is not exceptionally large.

Krause acknowledged the challenging nature of her decision but emphasized her duty to rule based on legal sufficiency.

Lester Tate expressed surprise at Krause’s decision, stating, "Given the dumpster fire the YSL trial has become, I’m really shocked she has not recused herself.

Even if the letter of the law allows it, to benefit the judiciary and protect its image to the public, the better practice would be for her to voluntarily recuse."

In contrast, another former Judicial Qualifications Committee chair, Chuck Boring, supported Krause's stance, noting the complexity and difficulty of the decision but affirming it as her responsibility.

As the longest trial in Georgia history, the Young Thug case remains on hold, awaiting further judicial decisions regarding Judge Glanville's potential recusal.

This delay adds another layer of complexity to an already contentious legal battle.
