Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist and social worker Sanam Javed was re-arrested by Islamabad police immediately after her release from Central Jail Gujranwala on court orders on Saturday, Express News reported.

Javed was released on judicial orders from Judge Naeem Saleem of the Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court, following directives from the Lahore High Court. Despite her release, Islamabad police detained her as soon as she stepped out of the jail.

Three days earlier, the Lahore High Court had acquitted Javed of charges related to the May 9 incident, ordering her release.

According to Express News, her lawyers arrived at the jail with court orders, and the jail authorities completed the legal formalities for her release. However, before she could leave, a heavy contingent of Islamabad police, in coordination with Gujranwala police, was waiting outside and took her into custody.

During the process of her release and subsequent re-arrest, all routes to and from Gujranwala Jail remained closed for eight hours.

Islamabad police did not allow anyone, including her family, to approach Javed during her re-arrest, and no reasons were provided for her detention.
