Ashley Judd, a longtime Democrat and advocate, is calling on Joe Biden to step down as the party's presidential nominee. In an opinion piece published in USA Today, Judd says Biden's performance in the debate showed he's unable to effectively counter Trump's lies.

Judd, who has been a vocal supporter of Biden and other Democrats, believes it's time for a new candidate to take the reins. She writes that the party can't afford to waste any more time on internal divisions or distractions.

Judd has a personal connection to the White House, having visited in April to promote the Biden administration's new national strategy to prevent suicide. She also lost her mother, Naomi Judd, to suicide.

Judd's opinion piece is a bold move, coming from someone who has been a strong ally to Biden in the past. However, she believes it's necessary to ensure the party's chances of winning the presidency.
