Eddie Murphy has returned to America as a married man. The "Coming to America" star tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Paige Butcher, in an intimate Caribbean ceremony this week, People reports.
The couple wed on Tuesday in Anguilla, surrounded by family and friends. Butcher, 44, wore a fitted lace gown with a corseted top by Tel Aviv-based designer Mira Zwillinger, while Murphy, 63, donned an off-white suit.
Murphy's representatives have not commented on the nuptials. The surprise wedding follows Murphy referring to Butcher as his "wife" during a recent interview on The New York Times' "The Interview" podcast.
Murphy and Butcher have been together since 2012 and became engaged in 2018. They share two children: 8-year-old daughter Izzy and 5-year-old son Max. Murphy also has eight other children from four previous relationships.
Murphy's first child, Eric, was born in 1989 with ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. He has five children—daughters Bria, 34, Shayne, 29, Zola, 24, and Bella, 22, and son Myles, 31—with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy, 56. They separated in 2005 after 12 years of marriage. Murphy's son Christian was born in 1990 with ex-girlfriend Tamara Hood, and his daughter Angel was born in 2007 with Melanie Brown, also known as Mel B from the Spice Girls.
This marriage marks Murphy's second and Butcher's first. Butcher has no children from previous relationships. The couple has maintained a private relationship over the years. During a 2020 interview with Extra at the Golden Globes, Butcher described Murphy as "very, very sweet and romantic."
The couple made a rare public appearance together at the premiere of "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" in June, accompanied by three of Murphy's daughters.
