ISLAMABD:

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), has given a partial nod to the Supreme Court’s decision to allocate reserved seats to the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaking to the media, the JUI-F emir partially embraced the verdict that bolstered PTI’s political fortunes, adding that the final and definitive opinion on the matter rests with constitutional and legal experts.

He extended goodwill to PTI and expressed hope that the decision would foster progress and create a conducive environment for addressing mutual concerns through dialogue, ultimately improving relations between the two parties.

Regarding the possibility of a review appeal, Fazl clarified that JUI-F as a party would not file an appeal. However, individuals within JUI-F who are directly affected by the decision would not be prevented from exercising their right to appeal individually.

He stressed that while it was their right to appeal, the party itself will not pursue it.

In a related development, during a phone call with PTI stalwart Asad Qaiser, the JUI-F emir reiterated his party’s acceptance of the apex court’s verdict.

“We express goodwill to PTI on the favourable verdict and hope that this development will improve ties between the two parties,” Fazl told Qaiser.

The former NA speaker thanked Fazlur Rehman for his kind words and stated that the verdict would uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and democracy.

‘Bravo’

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, SIC leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai praised the Supreme Court’s decision, calling it a “Bravo” and deserving of immense congratulations during such difficult times.

He welcomed the support of JUI-F and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), who have endorsed the top court’s verdict in favour of PTI-backed SIC.

Achakzai said that if every institution works within its limits, Pakistan can overcome its crises.

Speaking during the occasion, PTI leader Asad Qaiser echoed the same sentiments, stating that the entire nation takes pride in the top court’s decision and calling for the immediate resignation of the chief election commissioner.

Qaiser accused the ECP of “stealing the party’s mandate” and announced plans for nationwide tours and rallies against inflation after Muharram.

Achakzai congratulated PTI and noted that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s slogan was to respect the vote, criticising the PML-N-led government for allowing ISI to tap phones. He urged all institutions to function within their bounds to resolve Pakistan’s issues and expressed a desire for parliamentary supremacy as the sole solution.
