Security tightened in Bhakkar for Muharram

1,478 majalis, 297 processions planned with high security measures

In view of the sensitivity of Bhakkar during Muharram, the Punjab government included Bhakkar as the most sensitive district in the list of six districts of the province. In order to maintain the atmosphere of law and order throughout the district, the process of strict monitoring of the entrances is going on.

About 1,478 Majalis will be held and 297 processions will be held in the four tehsils.

As many as 50 processions have been placed in the A category. Being the most sensitive district, the Pakistan Army and Rangers will also fulfil their national responsibilities along with the police by making extraordinary security arrangements.

Along with the sealing of all river channels, an additional police force has been deployed at the inter-provincial check post Dajal at the junction of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces to maintain an ideal law and order atmosphere during the month of Muharram.

After Bhakkar was included in the six most sensitive districts across Punjab province and after special instructions were issued by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Commissioner Sargodha Division Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti and RPO Shariq Kamal reached Bhakkar to review the security arrangements. He reviewed the situation while talking to the members of the peace committee in Qasr Zainab.

Divisional officials were briefed by Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhandar and DPO Muhammad Abdullah Lak on Muharram routes.
