‘Euphoria’ Season 3 to begin filming in January 2025 with full main cast returning

HBO's 'Euphoria' Season 3 begins filming January 2025, reuniting the main cast after a long delay.

HBO has announced that the highly anticipated third season of the Emmy-winning series "Euphoria" will begin filming in January 2025, with all principal cast members returning. This marks nearly three years since the premiere of Season 2.

Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films, expressed excitement about the upcoming production. “I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on ‘Euphoria’ in January. We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of ‘Euphoria’ to life for the fans,” Orsi said.

Production was initially delayed due to several factors, including the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strike, the rising popularity of the show's cast leading to conflicting schedules, and creator Sam Levinson’s decision to write the entire season himself. Levinson had approached HBO in late 2023 and early 2024 with his ideas for the third season, which included a five-year time jump and potential storylines for Rue, such as working as a private investigator or pregnancy surrogate. HBO decided to delay production to ensure the new season aligned creatively with the previous seasons.

The main cast returning for Season 3 includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane. Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, tragically passed away at age 25 in July 2023. Some cast members, such as Barbie Ferreira, have indicated they would not return for another season.

Zendaya, also an executive producer on "Euphoria," joins Sam Levinson, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, and Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein in the executive production team. Former executive producer Kevin Turen passed away at age 44 in November 2023.

"Euphoria" has garnered critical acclaim and strong ratings for HBO, earning 25 Emmy nominations and winning nine awards to date. Among the wins are two Emmys for Zendaya for best actress in a drama and one for Colman Domingo for best guest actor in a drama.
