Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Rana Sanaullah criticised the Supreme Court's recent decision on the reserved seats, stating that the court had rejected the Sunni Ittehad Council's request while granting a new decision in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a press conference held in Islamabad on Friday, he argued that PTI had never claimed this relief before, accusing the court of attempting to rewrite the constitution.

The PML-N leader reiterated that the Supreme Court's decision did not favour the Sunni Ittehad Council and criticised the court for delivering a verdict that PTI had not even claimed.

He expressed respect for the Supreme Court but questioned its approach, stating that the oath taken by judges is to protect the constitution, not to rewrite it. He also referred to a similar decision related to Article 63, which legal experts had also deemed an attempt to rewrite the constitution.

Sanaullah emphasised that judicial decisions should be based on justice and should be clearly understandable to the general public.

He stressed that court rulings should protect the common man and make him feel that justice is being served. Decisions that are ambiguous or difficult to comprehend are not in the best interest of the nation, he asserted.

He further stated that judicial rulings should address the relief sought by the parties involved in the case. Decisions that deviate from this principle can have detrimental consequences for the country and its people, he added.
